In what could be a historic moment for Indian K-pop fans, reports suggest that HYBE, the South Korean agency behind global groups such as BTS, Seventeen and Newsines, is planning to open an office in the “city of dreams” Mumbai.

The news comes from South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, which has created massive excitement among Indian ARMYs and K-pop lovers.

If true, this will be HYBE’s first official presence in India, having previously had a presence in the US, Japan, and Latin America.

“Market research is ongoing in multiple regions,”

a HYBE spokesperson said, not denying the India plans.

Could BTS Finally Perform in India?

With BTS planning to reunite in June 2025 and a world tour in 2026, fans believe the move increases the chances of India being included in the tour list.

India, once considered off-radar due to its poor infrastructure and low album sales, is now seeing a surge in international shows.

Artists such as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Jackson Wang have already performed here, and 2024-25 saw a steady increase in the number of Korean artistes visiting India.

According to the latest EY-FICCI report, India’s entertainment industry clocked a turnover of Rs 101 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach Rs 167 billion by 2027.

HYBE’s entry could open doors not just for BTS but also for other groups like TXT, Le Sserafim, NewJeans, ILLIT and BOYNEXTDOOR – all of whom fall under HYBE’s sub-label.

Jeetendra Kapoor, a popular Bollywood actor, has completed one of the biggest real estate deals in Mumbai this year, selling two contiguous land parcels in Andheri for Rs 855 crore.

The land, which currently houses Balaji IT Park, was sold through two companies owned by the Kapoor family – Pantheon Buildcon Pvt Ltd and Tushar Infra Developers Pvt Ltd – to NTT Global Data Centres and Cloud Infrastructure India Pvt Ltd.

According to property documents reviewed by Square Yards, the sale involves a total land area of 9,664.68 sq m (which is about 2.39 acres) and includes three buildings with a total built-up area of about 4.9 lakh sq ft. The deal was registered on May 29 and attracted a stamp duty of Rs 8.69 crore and a registration fee of Rs 30,000.

Japan’s leading data infrastructure provider NTT has made a strategic move with this acquisition.

Mumbai has emerged as one of the world’s most prominent data center hubs in the last few years.

According to a recent report by Cushman & Wakefield, it ranks sixth globally and seventh in Asia-Pacific in capacity under construction.

With seven operational data centers already in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, NTT’s new investment is expected to further strengthen its hold in India’s digital infrastructure ecosystem.

Jeetendra Kapoor, non-executive chairman and promoter of Balaji Telefilms, has not responded to any request for comment about the deal.

The site, Balaji IT Park, is located in Andheri East – a key business and entertainment corridor that has become a hotbed for real estate and infrastructure development.

The deal is one of the biggest deals to take place in Mumbai in 2025, outpacing previous high-value sales such as the Rs 539 crore deal in Borivali by Rishabraj Estate Developers in March and the Rs 276 crore land acquisition in Malabar Hills by Vageshwari Properties in February.

The Kapoor family’s exit from real estate is part of a growing trend among Bollywood celebrities to take advantage of Mumbai’s booming property market. Recently, we have seen celebrities like Jaideep Ahlawat, Alka Yagnik and Amitabh Bachchan jump into the game of buying and selling properties worth crores across the city, indicating a major real estate asset reshuffle.

As Mumbai’s data centre capacity continues to expand – currently accounting for 42% of India’s capacity under construction – experts suggest such high-stakes acquisitions by global technology firms will only intensify, especially in commercially strategic areas such as Andheri.

May 28, Mumbai: An incident has come to light in Mumbai, which has raised security concerns.

The incident is that Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur on Monday evening arrested a 47-year-old woman from Dubai for illegally entering his house.

Police have identified the accused as Ghazala Zakaria Siddiqui.

She said that she came straight from the airport and reached Aditya Roy Kapur’s Rizvi Heights apartment around 6 pm.

She told that both of them are acquainted and she told the actor’s domestic help that she has brought clothes and gifts for him.

Believing her story, the domestic help allowed her to enter the flat.

The matter worsened when Aditya Roy Kapur returned to his house and told the staff that he did not recognise the visitor.

When the woman allegedly attempted to contact the actor, he left the house and informed their building’s society manager, who then informed his production manager.

The police were then called to the spot.

According to officials from the Khar police station, Ghazala Zakaria Siddiqui was not ready to leave the house and did not give any clear explanation for her presence.

She was taken into custody and booked under Section 331(2) of the Indian Justice Code for house trespass, which attracts a punishment of up to two years.

She was produced before the Bandra court on Tuesday.

Preliminary investigation found that Siddiqui did not have a mobile phone and was not connected to any contacts or relatives in Mumbai.

The police were able to identify her through her passport and other documents.

This incident was preceded by two other illegal intrusion attempts at actor Salman Khan’s Bandra home.

And it is reminiscent of the more serious break-in incident at actor Saif Ali Khan’s apartment earlier this year, where the actor was attacked and had to undergo emergency surgery.

The repeated break-ins have raised fresh concerns about the safety and privacy of celebrities living in Mumbai’s posh Bandra area.

Mumbai Police questions Dino Morea in Rs 65 crore Mithi river cleaning scam

Mumbai, May 27 — Bollywood actor Dino Morea was questioned on Monday by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with the Rs 65 crore Mithi river cleaning scam.

The actor and his brother Santino Morea were summoned for questioning over call records and financial transactions related to the prime accused’s phone

According to EOW officials, Morea has been questioned along with people connected to Ketan Kadam, who was one of the two men arrested earlier this month for allegedly acting as a middleman in the supply of dredging equipment.

Several phone conversations between Kadam and the Morea brothers reportedly rang alarm bells during the investigation.

The Alleged Scam

The case centres on some questionable practices involving the procurement and rental of silt-pusher machines and dredging equipment by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

It’s claimed that Kadam, along with his co-accused Jayesh Joshi, teamed up with BMC officials and executives from Kochi’s Matprop Technical Services Pvt Ltd to submit inflated invoices and rig tenders to benefit certain equipment.

Investigators believe the tenders issued by the BMC were framed to match the specifications of the machines produced by Matprop, effectively eliminating fair competition.

Kadam and Joshi, acting as middlemen, allegedly provided rental services for the same equipment, but at much higher prices. They initially quoted Rs 8 crore for a two-year contract, but eventually settled for Rs 4 crore. Additionally, the cost of desilting was increased from Rs 1,609 to Rs 2,193 per metric tonne, before it came under scrutiny again.

So far, 13 people have been named in the case, of whom only Kadam and Joshi have been arrested. The EOW is investigating whether fake bills were raised for transporting sludge outside Mumbai, resulting in undue profits.

Dino Morea’s Involvement

Dino Morea’s name only cropped up during the call detail records and interrogation of the accused.

However, no action has been taken against him.

Police sources have confirmed that the actor is being questioned to find out if he was aware of the financial transactions between Kadam and other parties or if he played any role in it.

An EOW official told the press,

“Actor Dino Morea is being questioned in connection with the Mithi River cleaning scam. His name cropped up during the investigation for having links with one of the arrested accused.”

Fallout and Next Steps

After facing public outrage and conducting an internal review, the BMC has committed to tightening monitoring of procurement contracts.

The situation has sparked a renewed discussion about corruption in civic infrastructure projects and highlighted the urgent need for stronger transparency measures.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have not ruled out further questioning or additional arrests as they continue to unravel the alleged nexus between contractors, intermediaries, and civic officials.
