Maharashtra teacher recruitment phase 2: Over 12,000 candidates called for interview
The Maharashtra education department has started the second phase of its ongoing teacher recruitment initiative.
This time, they have released a common merit list of candidates eligible for interview-based appointments.
Out of a total of 8,556 sanctioned teaching posts across 1,861 management bodies, 8,264 posts have been approved for recruitment based on current availability and preferences submitted by candidates.
Interviews through Pavitra portal
A total of 12,966 candidates have been shortlisted for interviews.
These interviews are being conducted through Pavitra, the state’s centralised online platform that manages recruitment of teachers in local government and aided private schools.
Unlike the first phase in February 2024, where around 11,000 posts were filled without any interviews, this phase is now focusing on roles that require face-to-face assessment and skill demonstration.
Notably, 1,114 candidates have already been recommended for appointments in this round, and they did not even have to go through an interview.
SOP released for transparent selection
To keep things clear and ensure that every educational institution is on the same page, the department has rolled out a standard operating procedure (SOP). It details how teaching skills and interviews should be assessed.
The merit lists to be published are arranged by management categories and cover various teaching levels from primary (classes 1 to 5) to upper primary (classes 6 to 8), secondary (classes 9 to 10), higher secondary (classes 11 to 12) and even teacher training colleges.
177 posts withdrawn from recruitment
Due to administrative reasons, 177 posts under 81 managements have been withdrawn from this recruitment phase. Unfortunately, there will be no interviews for these positions, but you can find updated vacancy information on the Pavitra portal.
The department encourages candidates to check the portal regularly for the latest updates on their applications and schedules.
Final stage to fill thousands of vacancies
Shortlisted candidates will soon be invited to an interview, based on their merit rank and the number of positions available. This stage is crucial to ensure that well-qualified teachers are placed in schools across the state.
Candidates are encouraged to prepare thoroughly for their interviews and practical teaching assessments, as final selection depends on both performance and position availability.
