Jain Temple Demolition in Mumbai Sparks Massive Protests, Community Demands Justice

The demolition of the Jain temple in Vile Parle by the BMC has sparked outrage within the Jain community. Protesters are calling upon Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take strict action, including suspending the BMC officials responsible for the act.
Additionally, the community is demanding that the temple be reconstructed at the same site.
As per a PTI report, members of the Jain community in Mumbai have launched a protest march from Vile Parle to the BMC’s K/East ward office in Andheri East.
The demonstration comes in response to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s demolition of a reportedly unauthorised Digambar Jain temple in the Vile Parle area, which has deeply outraged the community.
The protest march, which began at 9:30 am, also saw the participation of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in solidarity with the Jain protesters.

Outraged Jain Community Demands Suspension of BMC Official Vanath Ghadge, the ward officer of the K/East division of the Municipal Corporation, under whose supervision the demolition was carried out.
The Jain community demanded the reconstruction of the Jain temple at the exact location where it once stood.
The temple trustee, Anil Shah, also alleged the desecration of the religious books, which were stored in the temple. Anil Shah detailed how the temple, which was built in 1960 inside Neminath Cooperative Housing Society in Kambli Wadi, was demolished.
Anil Shah also revealed that the temple was renovated in the past after all permissions were obtained from the BMC.
Anil Shah told PTI,
“There is a Government Resolution which says such structures can be regularized. You are only required to submit the proposal for regularization to the BMC, which we had submitted.”

Anil Shah also alleged that the demolition was carried out at the behest of a local hotelier. It is also reported that the Jain religious saints had asked for permission to remove the books and other religious paraphernalia before the start of the demolition.
However, the Municipal officials ignored the pleas and stated that the demolition was being carried out after a court order. Meanwhile, the High Court has halted any further demolitions.
Meanwhile, the political parties have seized the opportunity to gain brownie points. The Samajwadi Party head and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has condemned the demolition of the Jain temple and stated that the actions have led to fear and insecurity among the Jain community.
He also accused the BJP government of targeting the minorities and the Jain community. He also referred to an attack on Jain monks in Singoli in Madhya Pradesh. He also alleged that elements with the backing of the BJP are eyeing not only properties with religious institutions but also private land.

Maharashtra’s Bold Seaplane Dream Set to Soar Between Mumbai and Pune

If everything goes as planned, we could see seaplanes flying between Mumbai and Pune.
The Maharashtra government is once again reviving the seaplane tourism initiative, which will connect Mumbai and Pune via air, with many picturesque locales, including Mandwa (Alibaug), Ganpatipule (Ratnagiri), Ujani Dam (Solapur), and Koyna Dam (Satara).
The speciality of these seaplanes is that they can land on both land and water.
The seaplanes will have a capacity to carry 9 to 19 passengers, and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has already requested bids from skilled aviation firms to operate the services.
The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (#MTDC) is set to revive seaplane services to improve connectivity between major cities like #Mumbai and #Pune and scenic, hard-to-reach destinations such as Ganpatipule, Koyna Dam, Ujani Dam, and Mandwa.

The MTDC, in its tenders, has vowed to pay back the investments within five years or ensure revenue guarantees for three years.
The seaplanes must not be older than 12 years and must accommodate 9 to 19 passengers.
The financial viability studies have estimated that the total project cost will be Rs. 466 crores to Rs. 490 crores, and a tentative ticket price has been fixed at Rs. 4,000.
The study also estimated an annual ridership of 50,000 to 70,000 passengers. The project is expected to break even within five years.
The idea was first mooted in 2014, and the original plan was to link Mumbai and Pavana Dam with a nine-seater seaplane.
However, the plan did not materialise primarily due to bureaucratic hurdles, from delayed approvals to legal wrangling. Later, a plan to operate seaplanes on the Mumbai Chowpatty route was also proposed, but it also fell through.
A second attempt this time with better planning, and routes have been chosen after careful evaluation of their commercial potential and better coordination with aviation authorities to ensure smooth approvals.
This time, there are plans to include aerial tours that will showcase the coastal beauty of the state along with its heritage sites and coastal fauna.
Maharashtra has an almost infinite number of forts straddling the long coastline, and such ventures will give tourists a chance to admire the rich maritime history of the state.
However, sceptics point out that if the project is to succeed, it must be appropriately priced to make it within the reach of the middle class. It will have to be presented as part of broader travel packages, coupled with reliable schedules and awareness-building.
If successful, Maharashtra will become the first state to have a commercially viable, multi-route seaplane network. The project is expected to take a few months before it opens to the public, on the condition that all necessary approvals are through.

“No risk of upsetting your international fanbase” Mumbai Police Takes Dig At Bollywood’s Silence on Pahalgam Attack With Instagram Story

In what can be termed an oft-repeated phenomenon, Bollywood stars maintain an obnoxious silence, especially after terror strikes. Investigations of terror incidents reveal that the roots of such attacks often lead to Pakistan.
When the whole nation was mourning the cold-blooded murder of 26 innocent tourists in Pahalgam by Pak-sponsored terrorists in front of their families, not a single so-called bigwig of Bollywood like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan condemned the killings and remained conspicuously absent from social media.
This led to intense trolling, with many netizens calling for the boycott of Bollywood.
However, the Maharashtra Police has decided to pay back the hypocritical Bollywood stars in the same coin.
Mumbai Police Questions Bollywood’s Silence on Pahalgam Attack
An Instagram Story, which was posted on the official Maharashtra Police account, has become viral.
In the story, the Mumbai Police made a veiled dig at Bollywood stars for their silence on the recent India-Pakistan flare-up.
The story featured pictures of prominent Bollywood stars, including the Khan trio, along with a sarcastic caption:
“Dear celebrities, it’s safe now. You can crawl back to Instagram, no risk of upsetting your international fanbase.”
The post has since become viral, with many netizens reacting to the post.
Why this big expose not being Shared?

Some netizens construed it as a veiled and sarcastic dig at the stars for their continued silence on the Pahalgam killings and the subsequent hit back by India in the form of “Operation Sindoor.”
Many fans stated that the silence by the stars is to prevent any backlash from South Asians who are residing in the Gulf countries and other parts of the world.
One netizen referred to the silence as selective silence.
Salman Khan’s tweet, “Thank God for the ceasefire…” after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, also evoked furious reactions.
The star was also derided for not posting his reaction when 26 tourists were gunned down in Pahalgam.
The star later deleted his post.
The Pahalgam terror attack provoked India to launch “Operation Sindoor,” in which terror hideouts deep into Pakistan were targeted and destroyed.
India hit major terror camps in Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, and Muzaffarabad, and killed scores of terrorists who were undergoing terror training in these camps.
