Mahashivratri 2025: Grand Celebrations in Mumbai with Antar Yog Foundation and Tungareshwar Mahadev Temple

Mahashivratri is one of the prominent Hindu festivals celebrated to honour Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is one of the three Trinity Gods, the other two being Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma.

Maha Shivratri usually occurs in February or March, depending on the tithi, and this year, Maha Shivaratri falls on February 26, 2025.

Unlike other festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi or Durga Pooja, which are celebrated in certain parts of the country, Mahashivratri is celebrated across the length and breadth of the country and holds immense spiritual significance.

Fair At Tungareshwar Mahadev Temple

During Shivratri, for the residents of the metropolis of Mumbai, a visit to Tungareshwar Mahadev Temple is a must, and this year, the crowd is expected to be even larger, considering the religious fervour sweeping across the nation due to the Mahakumbh.

The administration is also gearing up and making preparations in anticipation of a record-breaking crowd.

According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Jitendra Vankoti, Mahashivratri will be celebrated, and a large fair is also being organized at the Tungareshwar Temple, which may see an attendance of up to 4-5 lakh people.

The Mahashivratri celebrations in Mumbai will take place from February 26 to 27 under Acharya Ji’s tutelage, and the event will be a journey aimed at nurturing health, development, success, knowledge, and women’s empowerment. The event will also strive to create honourable leaders in various fields, including finance, sports, and politics.

Those who wish to participate in the Maha Shivratri event, can register at https://mahashivratri.antaryogfoundation.in/.

The venue for the event will be Hall No. 1, Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (E), Mumbai.

It will witness the participation of influential personalities from various fields, including industry, entertainment, and sports. The event will also be broadcast live via free streaming across the globe, with over three lakh devotees expected to attend.

Several other activities will be conducted by the Antar Yog Foundation, including extensive blood tests aimed at scientifically authenticating the transformative effects of its powerful healing practices.

The event will also feature the Pitru Rin Mukti Sadhana, which seeks to liberate crores of ancestors (Pitars) by removing the obstructions that hinder an individual’s progress.

Additionally, a collective rendition of Shiva mantras by more than 25,000 devotees is expected to generate a surge of positive energy, dispelling negativity and filling the atmosphere with divine regenerative energy.

It will also be an occasion to hear Acharya Upendra Ji’s profound commentary on the revered Atharvasheersha scripture.

During the event, he will also release a book on the subject, a journey of enlightenment revealing spiritual truths that have never been disclosed before.

Mumbai Coastal Road's Game-Changing Vehicular Underpass Set to Slash Commute Times by Over an Hour

The Mumbai Coastal Road, officially named the Dharamveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road, is an eight-lane, 29.2-kilometre-long expressway designed to connect Marine Lines in the south to Kandivali in the north.

The project is nearing completion, with its only vehicular underpass (VUP) expected to open in May.

This underpass, located beneath Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road in Worli and stretching nearly half a kilometre, will allow vehicles to bypass congested intersections and offer direct access to the coastal road from Prabhadevi.

The underpass bisects into two sections, with one leading to South Mumbai, while the other arm, which is elevated over a bridge, will connect with Bandra. The new link is expected to reduce congestion at key intersections and will also cut down travel time from two hours to less than 40 minutes.

The 4.5-km-long and 17-m-wide Sewri-Worli connector is also nearing completion, with its ramp ending before the JK Kapur Chowk, enabling motorists to connect with Marine Drive or Bandra via the coastal road.

The vehicular underpass is the only underpass of the project. The Coastal road also features more than 16 pedestrian underpasses (PUPS) allowing for the safe passage of pedestrians towards the seaside boulevard.

According to BMC officials, the underpass has been designed considering the burgeoning traffic shortly. It will provide hassle-free access from the Sewri-Worli elevated corridor to either the western suburbs or South Mumbai.

A BMC official was talking to the Indian Express and stated,

“This underpass will complete the last missing link of the coastal road. The ongoing works are in the final stages, and they will be completed by early May, soon after which we intend to open the underpass for motorists. Once this tunnel is opened, motorists coming from Dadar can enter the coastal road directly, without having to exit from the Worli or Haji Ali interchanges,”

Subsidiary work like painting lane markings, installation of street lights, and plastering of the sidewalks is going on at a brisk pace and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

Couple Caught in Indecent Act on Mumbai Bus; Conductor Booked, Video Triggers Public Outrage

A viral video is making the rounds on social media and is spawning a heated debate on the etiquette that must be maintained while using public amenities. The viral video depicts a young couple who were engaged in sexual acts while travelling on public transport.

The incident happened on a bus travelling from Panvel to Kalyan, and a motorist recorded the indecent act by the commuters on a moving AC bus. The video showed the couple engaged in sexual acts in the back seat of a moving civic-run AC bus on Sunday evening.

The incident sparked uproar, and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has ordered an enquiry against the bus conductor, who was duty-bound to prevent the incident. The conductor is facing charges of negligence and failing to intervene.

NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde has not responded to the controversy.

According to a statement by Anarjit Chauhan, the conductor of the bus where the incident happened is facing the heat for not intervening in the alleged despicable act. According to Anarjit, the bus was almost empty and was travelling from Panvel to Kalyan.

When the bus stopped at an intersection, the act of the couple, who are reportedly in their twenties, was spotted by a motorist who filmed the incident and sent it to some senior NMMC officials.
The act could face charges under the purview of Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which stipulates a jail term of three months and/or a fine of Rs 1,000 for any indecent act in a public place. The transport authority has not approached the police on the matter.

An obscene act in a public place can attract legal action. At the time of going to press, the civic body hadn’t approached the police.
