Mumbai Issues High-Tide Warning: BMC Urges Public to Avoid Seashore From Dec 4–7
Mumbai will face unusually high tides from December 4–7, with waves reaching 4.96 meters. The BMC has urged people—especially visitors to Chaityabhoomi—to stay away from the seashore. Clear, warm weather will continue despite coastal safety concerns.
The weather in Mumbai remains warm and clear. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a strict advisory urging people to stay away from the seashore from December 4th to 7th due to unusually high tides. Civic officials say a high tide of 4.96 meters will occur in the Arabian Sea at 11:52 pm on Thursday. Similar high tides are expected over the weekend. Any tide exceeding four meters is considered dangerous. The city administration has alerted residents and visitors to coastal areas.
This warning comes just before the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on December 6th. Thousands of people traditionally gather at Chaityabhoomi in central Mumbai during this time. Given the memorial’s proximity to the seashore the BMC has advised visitors to Chaityabhoomi and Shivaji Park to exercise extreme caution and avoid getting too close to the water. The civic body also stressed that crowd management and coastal safety teams will be on high alert during this time.
Meanwhile Mumbai experienced fog and cold weather on Thursday with the minimum temperature dropping to around 18°C slightly below seasonal normals. The daytime weather is expected to be warm with maximum temperatures likely to reach 34°C. Overall the weather remains dry with no rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours.
Forecasts indicate clear skies throughout the week. Clear and stable weather will prevail from December 4th to December 9th. Maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 33°C and 34°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to hover between 19°C and 20°C. Despite the calm weather officials reiterate that high tide conditions pose a safety risk especially in low-lying coastal areas.
The BMC has appealed to the public and visitors to follow all safety instructions and avoid unnecessary movement near the sea during the high-tide window.

Mumbai Silver Rates Update February 19, 2026
Silver rates in Mumbai today are as follows. 10 grams of silver costs Rs 2,549. For 100 grams, it is Rs 25,490. For 1 kilogram, the price is Rs 2,54,900. These prices change often. It is better to check the rate on the day you want to buy.
People in Mumbai buy silver for many reasons. Some buy it for jewellery. Some people keep silver coins and bars as savings. Silver is also used in small idols and puja items. Sometimes, families buy silver as gifts during festivals like Diwali and Akshaya Tritiya.
The price of silver in Mumbai is usually very close to the international price. But local taxes and making charges can make the price a bit higher. Also, the price can change from one shop to another in Mumbai. The rates are mostly the same in Zaveri Bazaar, which is the main market for gold and silver in the city.
People often look at both gold and silver rates before buying. While gold rates are higher (given for 10 grams), silver remains more affordable for most families. Right now, silver prices are not as high as gold, but they keep moving up and down.
Mumbai has many jewellers who sell silver in different forms. Still, it’s good to buy only from trusted shops and ask for a proper bill. Some people prefer buying certified silver bars or coins for better resale value.
In short, silver is a popular choice in Mumbai for small investments or daily use. Rates keep changing, so always check the latest prices before buying.

Gold rates in Mumbai today are: Gold 24k (10g): Rs 1,54,190, Gold 22k (10g): Rs 1,41,340, and Gold 18k (10g): Rs 1,15,640. These rates change every day. They depend on many factors such as global prices, import duty, and rupee value.
In Mumbai, many people buy gold for weddings and festivals. It is also used as an investment. Some keep gold as savings for the future. But gold prices in Mumbai can be higher than smaller cities because of taxes, transport, and demand.
Gold shops in Zaveri Bazaar and other old markets are always busy. People come for jewellery, coins, and bars. Most shops follow the morning gold rate. Some update rates in the evening if markets change a lot.
These days, gold rates are at record highs. This worries both buyers and jewellers. Buyers wait, hoping for lower rates. Sellers see less business. But big events like Akshaya Tritiya still see some people buying, even when prices are high.
When buying gold in Mumbai, always check today’s rates and look for hallmark certification. Some shops offer old gold exchange to save some money. Always ask about making charges and taxes. If you want to invest, some people choose gold coins or bars. Others buy digital gold.
Prices can change quickly based on international news and market mood. Mumbai rates are almost the same as other metro cities like Delhi or Chennai. But always check, as the rates may be a bit different.
Now, Mumbai gold prices are high. Think carefully and check all costs before buying. Don’t rush the decision, especially at these rates.
