Mumbai Metro has launched a WhatsApp-based ticketing service for Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line), allowing passengers to buy digital QR tickets by messaging “Hi” to +91-98730-16836. The service, developed by PayLocal Fintech, supports UPI and card payments and promotes cashless, eco-friendly travel.
The Mumbai Metro has taken a major step towards digital convenience and sustainable mobility. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has launched a WhatsApp-based ticketing service for passengers of Metro Line 3 also known as the Aqua Line.
This line runs from Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai to Aarey JVLR in the northwest.
More importantly passengers can now receive metro tickets directly on WhatsApp by sending a simple “Hi” to +91-98730-16836 or by scanning QR codes displayed at stations.
Furthermore the system offers a conversational interface. Through this system passengers can instantly purchase and receive QR-based digital tickets.

According to an official statement from the MMRC this service enables users to create up to six QR tickets per transaction and supports multiple payment methods, including UPI, debit cards and credit cards.
It’s worth noting that there will be no additional charges for UPI payments while card transactions will incur minimal charges.
This ticketing technology has been developed by PayLocal Fintech Pvt. Ltd. Best of all passengers don’t need to download a separate app. This move aims to eliminate paper tickets which is in line with MMRC’s broader mission of promoting environmentally friendly cashless travel solutions.
MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide said that this initiative reinforces Mumbai Metro’s commitment to providing citizens with a seamless, efficient and sustainable travel experience.
We want to inform you that the concept of WhatsApp-based ticketing is not new to Mumbai.
It is already operational on Metro Lines 2A and 7 under the Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Limited (MMMOCL). A similar system is operational across the entire Delhi Metro network.
This new feature complements the recently launched Mumbai One mobile app, which integrates ticketing for the metro, buses and suburban railways.
However this WhatsApp service operates independently and can be accessed through any WhatsApp-enabled smartphone.
