Police took action after a dispute over parking at Mumbai airport, several people were arrested
Mumbai: An incident has come to light from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in which taxi drivers and security personnel clashed violently. After this, 3 people have been taken into custody by the police and a case has been registered against 2 others. The incident, which took place late night on May 31, attracted widespread attention after the video of the scuffle went viral on social media platforms.
According to officials of the Sahar Police Station, such a dispute took place when the airport staff asked some people to vacate the departure area parking after disembarking the passengers. One of the drivers apparently refused to do so and started abusing the staff, leading to a scuffle. The video shows scuffles and kicking, and punching between members of both sides, causing panic among other passengers.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, tasked with securing the airport, immediately intervened and stopped the fight before the matter got out of hand. While no one was reported to be seriously injured, the video of the incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of passengers at one of India’s busiest international airports.

The police have arrested five people on various charges under the Indian Penal Code, including causing public disorder and obstructing public officials from discharging their duties. Three of the accused have been detained while a detailed investigation is underway. Officers are examining CCTV footage and collecting eyewitness statements to piece together an exact timeline of events.
A shocking road rage incident unfolded near Mumbai Airport Terminal 1 on June 4, leaving commuters stunned. According to the Free Press Journal, a cab driver named Bhimprasad Mahanto was seen on the Western Express Highway with another driver, Justin J, clinging to the bonnet of his car. A passerby captured the entire scene on video, which was later reported to the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The video shows Mahant refusing to stop the vehicle despite repeated attempts by the other driver.
The airport police have arrested Mahant and seized his vehicle. He has now been booked under the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act for negligent driving and endangering public safety.
In a related incident that took place around June 2-3, the police arrested a man named Irfan Sharif Khan after he allegedly got into a scuffle with a security guard over improper parking. Following a complaint by the guard, Raju Rajendra Luhera, Khan was detained for violating traffic rules and causing public disturbance.
Unauthorised or improper parking at CSMIA has led to controversies several times, with both airport authorities and police stressing the need for strict enforcement of traffic and security protocols within the airport premises.
