He died under mysterious circumstances on the night of January 11, 1966 in Tashkent, after signing a peace agreement with Pakistani President Ayub Khan to end the war. He taught us to respect farmers and soldiers. His teachings remain inspirational even today.
Lal Bahadur Shastri will always remain a symbol of simplicity, sacrifice, and patriotism. He was known for his honesty, humility and dedication to public service and held high positions in the Indian National Congress. The Vijay Ghat memorial was built in his memory, where people from all over the country pay tribute to him.
