A 76-year-old British national associated with IPL broadcast operations was found dead in his hotel room in South Mumbai. Following this incident, local authorities have initiated an investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Ian Williams Langford. Ian was working as a broadcast engineer with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the coverage of the 2026 IPL season.

He was staying at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai as part of his professional duties, having checked in on March 24.

Found Unconscious in Hotel Room

According to officials Langford returned to his room on the night of March 29 after finishing his duties at an IPL match.

When hotel staff attempted to contact him multiple times the following morning, they received no response.

Upon receiving no response, hotel staff used a master key to enter the room, where they found him lying unconscious on the floor.

Medical assistance was arranged immediately but he was pronounced dead.

According to further information, hotel officials immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital after finding him unconscious. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors declared him ‘brought dead.’

No Suspicion of Foul Play So Far

The police have registered a report of ‘accidental death’ at the Marine Drive Police Station.

The preliminary post-mortem report has revealed no indications of any foul play, suggesting that the death may have occurred due to natural causes or a medical condition.

However officials have stated that further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
