Mumbai Indians Acquires Stake in Oval Invincibles for The Hundred

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially joined The Hundred, England’s unique 100-ball cricket tournament.

On Monday, February 10, MI’s parent company, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its subsidiary RISE Worldwide, formed a partnership with Surrey County Cricket Club (SCCC) for the Oval Invincibles, a team based in London.

Surrey retains a 51 per cent stake in the Invincibles, while MI owns the remaining 49 per cent.

RIL is set to invest £60 million for its share in the Invincibles, who were the first team in The Hundred to be sold by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The current valuation of the Invincibles is £123 million.

Importantly, the Invincibles are the most successful team in The Hundred’s history, having won both the men’s and women’s tournaments.

The women’s team secured the championship in 2021 and 2022 by overcoming Southern Brave in the finals.

The men’s team followed suit in 2023 and 2024, defeating Manchester Originals and Southern Brave to claim the title.

Nita Ambani, the owner of MI, shared her thoughts, saying,

“Cricket is more than just a sport; it’s a passion that brings people together across the world. Welcoming Oval Invincibles into the Mumbai Indians family is a proud moment for us. This partnership helps us expand our MI fanbase not just in India, but also in New York, the UAE, South Africa, and now England, marking a new chapter in our global cricket journey.”

Oli Slipper, the chairman of Surrey Cricket Club, commented,

“From the very beginning, we sought a partner who could help Surrey lead the way in English cricket. With Mumbai Indians, we have found that partner. Their passion for cricket and their success in the IPL makes them the ideal match, and we are confident this partnership will bring continued success to both Surrey CCC and our Hundred team.”

MI is widely regarded as the most successful franchise in IPL history, boasting five IPL titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020). They have also clinched two Champions League titles.

Mumbai Indians Franchise Valuation: How Much Is MI Worth in 2025?

The Mumbai Indians (MI) are one of the founding franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The franchise came into existence in 2008 and is owned by the Reliance Industry subsidiary, Indiawin Sports.

The franchise’s home ground is the Wankhede Stadium, and its secondary home ground is the Brabourne Stadium.

The team is currently led by Hardik Pandya, while its chief coach is Mahela Jayawardene, batting coach is Kieron Pollard, and bowling coach is Lasith Malinga.

Suryakumar Yadav Purchases Luxury Apartments Worth ₹21.11 Crore in Mumbai's Deonar-Chembur Area

Suryakumar Yadav, or SKY as he is lovingly known among cricket fans, and his spouse Devisha have just bought two apartments in the Deonar-Chembur area for a stupendous sum of Rs 21.11 crores.

As per the documents accessed by Square Yards, the deal was finalized earlier in March. For the unversed, Suryakumar Yadav, who is a star of the Mumbai Indians and is playing in IPL 2025, has long been associated with the Deonar-Chembur area, and, naturally, he and his better half will make the area their permanent residence.

The star cricketer has just purchased two luxury apartments at Godrej Properties-developed Godrej Sky Terraces project in Deonar, near Chembur, in north-eastern Mumbai.

The area was acquired by Godrej Properties from members of the Kapoor family in 2023 for a sum of Rs 100 crores.

The area was also the location of the legendary actor and director Raj Kapoor’s former bungalow, known as RK Cottage.

SKY and the Deonar-Chembur area have been synonymous with one another since he is already residing in a posh location in the Deonar-Chembur area.

His childhood was spent in Anushakti Nagar, which is also the residential quarters for the workers from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and other allied nuclear energy facilities in the area.

The two apartments purchased by Suryakumar have a total carpet area of 4,222.76 square feet and are located on consecutive floors.

The property, being developed by Godrej Sky Terraces, envisages three- and four-bedroom apartments and is being developed by Godrej Properties.

Deonar is located in Eastern Mumbai under the Mumbai Suburban district. The nearest railway station is Chembur on the Harbour Line and is connected by the Mumbai Monorail and major roads like the Eastern Express Highway and Sion-Panvel Expressway.

Suryakumar Yadav is one of the most versatile, forceful, and pioneering T20 batsmen. He is best known for his 360-degree stroke play.

He reached the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20I rankings for batters and was crowned the ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year.
