Times Square ‘Jesus Is Palestinian’ Billboard Triggers Debate Over Faith, History, and Politics
A controversy erupted after billboards in New York’s Times Square displayed the message “Jesus is Palestinian,” sparking mixed reactions online. While some praised it as thought-provoking and culturally reflective during Christmas, others criticised it as provocative. The ADC said the aim was to encourage dialogue and shared values.
A huge controversy has erupted after billboards at NYC’s Times Square, which were sponsored by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), started displaying the message ‘Jesus is Palestinian.’
The episode has evoked both endorsement and backlash.
A section contended that the message is “disruptive” and “provocative” and could be interpreted as offensive, while others termed it as a perfect amalgam of cultural, religious, and political viewpoints during Christmas.
The billboard displayed the message in black color over a green background and was accompanied by Merry Christmas greetings.

Thousands of users took to the social media platform to air their views.
One user stated
“This is a bit surprising considering this is America.”
Another user wrote on X,
“That’s a beautiful and thought-provoking message to see in such a vibrant place!”
A third user, however, felt that Jesus is for everyone, and there is no need to make him specific to one community.

After the backlash, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) National Executive Director Adeb Ayoub issued a clarification and stated that the motto of the whole exercise was to start a discourse and also highlight the common values among Christians, Muslims, and Arab Americans in the festive atmosphere.
Talking to the media house New York Post, he stated that America is predominantly Christian and Christianity was born in Palestine. If a healthy debate has been started due to the billboards, it is a welcome outcome. Different viewpoints will not be revealed if they are effectively silenced and gagged.
The billboard message has now been reconstituted and includes a quote from former US President Ronald Reagan, who asked for the walls to be torn down.
He was referring to the Berlin Wall during the Cold War timeline as well as the Israeli security barrier.
Was Jesus really Palestinian?
According to available ancient literature, it is believed that Jesus was born on December 25 in Bethlehem, a town in the ancient region of Judea, which is located in the modern-day West Bank. It is located within Palestinian territory south of Jerusalem.
Jesus Christ spent his life in Nazareth, located in Galilee, regions that were part of the Roman province of Judea at the time.

The video first appeared on a Snapchat account linked to the student, after which it went viral on the social media platform.

Akhilesh Chetla Ravi’s LinkedIn profile reveals that he worked at JPMorgan Chase as a software developer in September 2023.
His profile also stated that he had worked previously with Bayer, Capgemini, and BYJU’S.
After the video became viral, Ravi changed the settings of his Instagram account to private.
Many viral posts alleged that Ravi worked at the store, and the video was recorded when he was in the US on an F-1 student visa.
The F-1 student visa has strict employment rules and does not permit the student to work outside their educational institution without authorization.
Many netizens alleged that Ravi had violated immigration regulations.
The video has also ignited a discussion on firearm laws, with netizens wondering if international students can legally possess firearms in the United States.

YouTuber James Rallison, creator of TheOdd1sOut, is facing online backlash after claims surfaced that several freelance animators working on the channel were removed without much notice. The controversy began when animators shared screenshots online, sparking debate among fans across Reddit, Discord, and X.
James Rallison, who owns the YouTube channel TheOdd1sOut, is facing a huge backlash after it was revealed that he had unceremoniously shown his animation team the door.
The discussion started in mid-February when the freelance animators came online to reveal that they had been removed from the channel.
The screenshots were then shared in Discord groups and posts on Reddit.

— DramaAlert (@DramaAlert) March 6, 2026
Many netizens alleged that the animators were informed that they were no longer associated with the channel with little or no warning.
The development has sparked a huge debate on YouTube commentary channels and social media platform X.
Netizens stated that the animators had shaped the look and the feel of TheOdd1sOut’s content.
Most of the animators who were working for the channel were freelancers and not full-time employees.
This negates the need for any compensation or notice pay.
— TheOdd1sOut (@theodd1sout) March 6, 2026
However, considering their long association, netizens have labelled the action as unethical.
Fans also stated that the animators create a clean and colorful animation style that viewers easily recognise.
For the unversed, TheOdd1sOut is a brainchild of James Rallison and has evolved, during the course of time, into one of the best-known animation channels on YouTube.
Most of the contents on the channel were related to personal stories from James Rallison’s life.
The contents were created using simple drawings, humour, and animated scenes, and with time, its subscription hit 20 million.
The most striking feature was the animation, which was characterised by suave movement, bright visuals, and clear storytelling, and this enamoured millions of fans.

North Hall High School Teacher Jason Hughes Dies After Senior Prank Turns Tragic in Georgia
A prank by students at North Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia, turned tragic when teacher and coach Jason Hughes died after slipping while confronting pranksters outside his home. The 40-year-old was struck by a pickup truck and later declared dead at the hospital.
A prank by high school seniors ended in tragedy when teacher and coach Jason Hughes lost his life.
A group of seniors at North Hall High School were doing a prank tradition that involved scattering toilet paper on the lawn of teacher, Jason Hughes.
Hughes saw toilet paper on his lawn and ran to confront the miscreants. Because it had been raining earlier, the ground was slippery, and Hughes slipped onto the road and was hit by a pickup truck.
He was rushed to the hospital by emergency personnel but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

Five teenagers were arrested after teacher Jason Hughes, 40, was run over when he slipped outside his Gainesville, Georgia, home… pic.twitter.com/xU37y6nuMp
Jason Hughes, 40, was a teacher and coach at North Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia. He is survived by his wife and two children. The teacher was struck by a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Jayden Wallace.
Wallace and his two friends provided first aid until the paramedics arrived and took Hughes to the hospital.
Jason Hughes and his wife both taught at North Hall High and made them a high-value target.
Hughes’ home was pranked in the past also, and the Instagram page featured a picture of the teacher’s home filled with toilet paper back in March 2023, captioned “Juniors +4.”
Incidentally, the Hall County School District had released a statement explicitly calling on students to end the prank war tradition just before the tragedy unfolded.
The warning was posted, but the students did not stop and went ahead with the prank.
The district stated,
“While we understand that prom is a time for celebration and creating lasting memories, we must emphasize the importance of responsible behavior and respect for others and their property.”
Officials also noted that in previous years the pranks went overboard and often resulted in damage to property.
Jayden Wallace, who was driving the fateful vehicle, is facing charges ranging from first-degree vehicular homicide, irresponsible driving, criminal encroachment, and cluttering on private property. He could end up receiving a jail sentence from three to fifteen years if convicted.
His co-pranksters who have been arrested also face charges of criminal trespass and littering.
Jason Hughes’ wife, Laura Hughes, said her husband loved the students and wasn’t going to confront them, but was excited to catch them red-handed.
She also said her family supports the dropping of charges against all involved.
She added that her family is already suffering due to the tragedy but would not like to see the incident ruining the lives of the students.
